What is Kambo?

The Origin of Kambo among Indigenous Tribes in the Amazon Rainforest

Discover how ancient tribes such as the Katukina, Amahuaca, Kulina, Yawanawa, Marubo, Mayoruna and Matsés have been using Kambo for thousands of years. This natural remedy is known for its ability to remove Panema, a term for negative energy.

These indigenous fighters utilize Kambo to strengthen their endurance and speed, while simultaneously sharpening their mental and sensory focus. They also believe that Kambo makes them invisible to wild animals by eliminating their body odor.

In the jungle, Kambo is used against various conditions such as malaria, snakebites, fever, infections and fertility problems. This powerful substance purifies, detoxifies and strengthens both body and mind, relieves pain, increases potency and therefore attractiveness, and promotes overall vitality and resistance. For these tribes, Kambo not only functions as a remedy, but also as a therapy.

Discover Kambo: Natural Secrets of the Amazon

What is Kambo? Kambo is actually the skin secretion of the giant eight tree frog, Phyllomedusa Bicolor. Contrary to popular belief, Kambo is not poison. This friendly green-yellow frog produces this secretion for self-protection and has no natural enemies. You will mainly find this frog in the upper Amazon rainforest.

This frog is easy to catch by imitating its call. The animal is then held and stimulated with care and respect, after which the released secretion is collected on a wooden board and dried. After milking, the frog is returned to its natural environment, where it is not milked again for 2 to 3 months.

Kambo: Research and Scientific Discoveries

In the Western world, Kambo has attracted the attention of researchers for more than 20 years. Scientists believe that the secretion of Phyllomedusa Bicolor, like the venom of snakes and scorpions, could provide new treatment methods for conditions such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, chronic pain, cancer, AIDS, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, depression, vascular hepatitis, diabetes, rheumatism, arthritis, addictions, and more.

Several research institutions and pharmaceutical companies are working to identify Kambo's complex chemical composition and isolate and reproduce its bioactive constituents.

Amino acids are the building blocks of life on earth. Peptides are created by combining amino acids. And when you combine 50 peptides, you get a protein, the building block of both animal and human life.

For example, long-term research at the University of Paris has shown that the substance Dermaseptin B2, present in Kambo, is very effective in fighting cancer cells. To date, about 70 peptides from the unique Kambo cocktail, including bioactive ones, have been patented. Further studies are underway into antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and anesthetic applications.

The frog's secretion consists mainly of peptides and water, similar to human saliva. Just as a mother instinctively uses saliva to treat a wound on her child, Kambo can be used for healing.

What to Expect during a Kambo Session

A Kambo session involves a short but intense physical and mental challenge, usually lasting 30 to 40 minutes. During the session it is recommended to drink 2 to 3 liters of water.

The Kambo secretion penetrates the lymphatic system through the skin pores. The number of administration points varies per person.

Once in the lymphatic system, Kambo spreads quickly throughout the body.

The first effects include a sudden increase in warmth in the upper body, flushing and an increased heart rate. This is often accompanied by dizziness and nausea, and in some cases fainting may occur when the initial blood pressure increase returns to normal or just below.

Kambo is beneficial for the body's immune system and does not usually cause hallucinations, but some people do experience altered perception, resulting in new insights or intentions.

The peptides in Kambo help remove toxins at the cellular level, mainly through the stomach, but also through sweat pores and saliva. It can often lead to vomiting or detoxification through the intestines.

After the session it is important to take sufficient rest, after which normal eating and drinking can resume. Increased sensory activity is often experienced immediately after the session. Effects can still be felt in the days after the Kambo session.

NB:

Asthma patients must have an inhaler with them. Diabetics must have insulin, test strips and extra food with them. Prior consultation for alcohol and drug users. No water fasting 7 days before and after Kambo due to the risk of hyponatremia. No colonics, enemas, liver cleanses or other water-driven detoxification 3 days before and after Kambo due to the same risk. Discuss your medication with your practitioner in advance, because not all supplements are compatible with Kambo. Mention the use of sleeping, slimming or serotonin supplements. Provide a supportive framework due to possible emotional processes during the treatment. Inquire about any latex allergies for aftercare of the wounds.
